Product Review: Westinghouse Induction Cooker

Some time last year, Meralco started campaigning for the usage of Induction Heat Cookers to their consumers. They have illustrated that using an Induction Heat Cooker is energy efficient and one would be able to save more rather than using LPG cookers. They also explained how safe it is to use since there will be no flame and there will also be no risk of gas leakage. You may read more about their campaign here.

Reading about this, we started doing our own research and confirmed these statements from other people reviews. So we started searching for our very own Induction Cooker.

Induction cookers cost around Php1,500 above depending on the brand. We bought ours at SM North EDSA's Department Store for Php3,000+. It's quite expensive but it has more features compared to other units and is also of a trusted brand.

The Westinghouse induction cooker has 7 automatic cooking menus: Stir Fry, Hot Pot, Steam, Soup, Fry, BBQ and Milk. From these menus, I frequently use Fry/Stri Fry and Steam/Soup.

It also has 8 power levels from 100W (60C) to 2000W (280C). But you can't really effectively use the 100W (60C) power level when cooking maybe if you're just keeping your food warm then this can be an option. I usually use 300 to 400W when I'm cooking. It has a timer functionality which I have not tried yet.

It will take some time of getting used to because you can't really see if the pot is hot and how hot it may be. And true to what Meralco said, I believe it was energy efficient because our electric bill did not increase much. I have been using it for more than 3 months now and so far I did not encounter any problems with it.

I then mark this product as APPROVED. =)

  1. Hi. Got one of the Westinghouse double cooker but had a problem recently. Do you know where their service center located at? A phone number, maybe? I'm located here in manila. Thanks a lot.
